Abstract

The Portland Press Herald's story on the difficulties between the Maine Department of Transportation and the city of Portland over the length of the rail ties along the proposed Eastern Promenade trail apparently didn't present the whole truth. The paper on July 14 stated that MDOT was insisting on the use of 8-foot ties, while MDOT Deputy Commissioner Russ Spinney on July 11 said that his office would probably grant a waiver on tie length.
