Abstract

Portland city councilors Nathan Smith and Jim Cloutier are considering asker voters if over 60 acres of woods along the Presumpscot River in the North Deering neighborhood should be preserved as open space. The city's offer of $500,000 in cash and other considerations worth more than the property's $1.1 million assessed value has been rejected by owners Bert Wolf and Bob Adam, who believe the offer is far too low.
