Abstract
"Edge" piece on Mitch Aver, manager of a record label in Portland called Pigeon Records created last November by a local musician who wishes to remain anonymous. Aver books shows featuring Pigeon Records acts and bands on other labels, negotiates with compact disc distributors and promotes Pigeon releases to radio stations and other media outlets, but otherwise, his personal life is a mystery. Actually, Aver is probably just the fake identity of the company's anonymous founder, much as Leonard A. Fleetwood is the fake identity of Jeremy Marusek, founder and president of Wormco, a record label based in Northhampton, Mass., which is currently working with Aver to promote a forthcoming album.
