Abstract

"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on fiscally irresponsible budgets proposed by the both the Democratic and Republican members of the state Legislature. The budget favored by Republicans contained only slightly less new spending than the one proposed by Gov. King and the Democrats. The biggest difference between the two plans was $60 million in new taxes proposed by the Democrats, while the Republicans favored raiding the state's reserve accounts.
