Abstract
Salt Institute for Documentary Field Studies is undergoing traumatic change due to the apparent forced resignation this spring of founder and first director, Patricia Wood, 70, and her eventual succession by Sam Eliot, 57, who, in his early 20s, had helped to start the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor. Sue Robinson, director of student enrollment and student affairs at Salt, say the transition has been one of the most difficult experiences she has ever had in the workplace. Neither Wood nor board members will talk about the reasons for the split. Eliot notes that non-profits experience such events all the time. Details.
