Abstract
"City" piece on the Portland Police Department, which has refused to allow citizens to examine its daily police blotter for the past eight years. In response to a Freedom of Information Act request by Casco Bay Weekly (CBW), the department is apparently changing its policy. Gary Wood, the city's lawyer, recently advised CBW that police department officials intend to start releasing a daily report listing the names of arrestees, the time and location of the arrest, the charge and the name of the arresting officer.
