Abstract
"City" piece on the Portland Downtown Hospitality Association (PDHA), a group of local bar owners that formed last year, which is calling for self-policing of bars, with strict enforcement of established, but as-yet undetermined rules. The PDHA was scheduled to meet on March 27 with Rena Masten, executive director of Portland's Downtown District, a quasi-governmental group that deals with economic development and other issues in the city's retail sector. The purpose of the meeting, according to PDHA member Russ Riseman, is for the two organizations to solidify the terms of a proposal they plan to bring to the city council's public safety committee.
