Abstract
"City" piece on a rash of recent complaints about members of the Portland Police Department who have been ignoring traffic laws, such as stopping at stop signs and observing the speed limit. Portland deputy chief of police Bill Ridge said state traffic statutes allow police officers to violate state traffic laws in the performance of their duties, but in most, thought not all, instances they're supposed to have blue lights and siren on when responding to an emergency.
