Abstract
"City" piece on Charles Hitt of Atlanta, Ga., who bought a summer home on Peaks Island two years ago. Hitt has put up "No Trespassing" signs and erected a 50-foot-long, 4-foot-high fence to prevent people from crossing his property to get to a nearby beach. But the signs have been torn down and the fence-gate ripped from its hinges. Some of Hitt's neighbors are upset because he has blocked a route to the beach that they have used for years. But Hitt's property extends to the beach line, according to the city Assessor's Office, and he legally has the right to block people from walking through his property.
