Abstract

"City" piece on plans by the University of Southern Maine to transform a student parking lot into a multi-level garage. The proposed 1,200-space parking garage is part of a $19.4 million three-building community education complex, but a large portion of the site may consist of marine clay up to 50 feet deep. Ken Recker of Haley & Aldrich Inc., a local geotech firm, has been contracted to survey the site and determine if it is suitable for the complex.
