Abstract

"Cop beat" piece on a letter received by Casco Bay Weekly (CBW) on July 10 from Portland corporation counsel Gary Wood promising to open Portland Police Department (PPD) records. The letter referred to a final agreement between the city and CBW regarding access to records of the PPD. On a weekly basis the PPD will update and place in a public notebook both an Arrest Report and a Calls for Service Report, the update will occur by late Monday afternoon if possible and no later than noon on Tuesday each week, and members of the media will not be charged for copies of either log.
