Abstract

"Political Crapshoot" piece on the hotly contested race in state House District 31, representing Portland's West End, where Democrat David Garrity is running against John Elder, a Green candidate, for the seat being vacated by Democrat Mike Saxl, who is termed out. Since there is little substantive difference between the two candidates on the issues, the question comes down to personality and whether the district is best represented by a major party candidate or a third party candidate.
