Abstract

"City" piece on "Fillings: The Choices You Have, Mercury Amalgam and Other Filling Materials," a 10-page pamphlet prepared by the state Bureau of Health. While the new brochure has been lauded as the result of landmark legislation, making Maine one of a handful of states that requires dentists to inform patients that silver dental fillings are comprised of up to 50 percent mercury, the most toxic, non-radioactive metal known to man, many say they are still unhappy with what they consider to be watered-down language.
