Abstract
In 1992, 206,000 Mainers voted for Ross Perot in the presidential election, a number that could easily swing the current gubernatorial race. Independent candidates Jonathan Carter and Angus King are appealing to the Perot supporters, but the former might be too radical and the latter is not pushing their buttons. The right candidate could help the Perot supporters in their quest for a third party, but Carter and King are not cooperating in that aim. Details.
