Abstract

The Maine Office of Substance Abuse in December will draft new regulations to ban methadone clinics in the state. OSA is authorizing new standards for short-term detoxification programs, but said there doesn't seem to be a need for long-term clinics in Maine at this time. Discovery House, the state's only methadone clinic, has been operating on a six-month temporary license, and currently has less than fifty clients.
