Abstract
Although there are writers in Maine that seemingly should be called Maine Writers, it's nearly impossible to locate one that will accept that designation. Some will agree to be called a writer from Maine, because that is a geographic distinction, whereas being a Maine Writer is a regional distinction. The final preoccuption with the concept of the Maine Writer is marketing, with the label of Maine Writer applied in the same manner as "Fresh From Maine" is stamped on a case of lobsters. Details.
