Abstract

Taylor Mali came to Maine in the fall of 1993, and promptly founded the Maine Institute of Slam Poetry. Mali held semiregular poetry slams at Granny Killam's in Portland's Old Port, and the slams brought poetry down from the ivory tower and onto a barstool. Mali recently relocated to Cape cod, and the last slam sponsored by MISP takes place this Sunday at Granny's.
