Abstract

The $28 million, state-of-the-art Cumberland County Jail opened last fall near Portland's Union Station Plaza. The new jail has been a boon for some businesses in the area, as well as to the 323 vendors who did business with it in 1994. Maine's prison and jail population is lower than ever, and revenues from housing prisoners for the state and other counties is lower than expected. Details, list of vendors doing business with the jail.
