Abstract
Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., on April 18 released "Renewable Energy Sourcebook: A Primer for Action," a study reporting that Maine ranks first in New England and 11th nationally in renewable energy generation. The study says that nearly half of Maine's electricity comes from renewable sources, compared to a national average of 12.7 percent. Hydroelectric sources provide 25 percent of Maine's renewable energy, while biomass sources provide 24 percent.
