Abstract
WCSH-TV, sponsor of the Maine State Parade, has denied a request by Maine Vocals to take part in the May 6 event. WCSH chief executive officer Lew Colby said that it would be unacceptable to have the group, which supports the legalization of marijuana, to be in a parade that had school children with DARE signs. Don Christen of Maine Vocals said his group's float would have featured Betsy Ross sewing the first flag, which Christen claimed was made of hemp.
