Abstract

"Newsreal" piece reporting that Gov. King has sponsored legislation that would eliminate the state Advisory Commission on Radioactive Waste. The commission produces a monthly newsletter about radioactive waste, and the newsletter has been known to rankle officials at the Maine Yankee nuclear power plant in Wiscasset. The commission is funded by a tax on generators of radioactive waste, and its elimination would save Maine Yankee more than $1 million over the next decade.
