Abstract

Marc Goldring of the Wolf Organization of Massachusetts and independent consultant Herbert Sprouse this week unveiled their recommendations for developing Portland's arts district. One key long-term recommendation was the creation of a local arts agency to manage the efforts of diverse groups involved, and it was suggested that the Portland Arts and Cultural Alliance could be modified to fit that role. The report noted that Congress Street's retailing days are past, and warned against expecting too much from an arts district.
