Abstract

The waters off Eastport, Maine's easternmost city, offer some of the finest scuba diving in the hemisphere. Outlying islands in the region, such as Campobello, Deer Island, and Grand Manan, not to mention the numerous stark and barren cliffs that rise straight up from the sea floor, also offer incredible sites for marine fauna. But when the tide is running, the water can boil like river rapids, making it necessary to plan dives carefully.
