Abstract
Sponsored by the National Audubon Society, a Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is carried out every December all across the country in particular territories. No less than 25 of these territories have been established in Maine. By counting in the same areas each year, trends may be noticed in bird populations. Mike Andrews, a Registered Maine Guide who leads field trips in search of winter oddities when he isn't coordinating the Midcoast Audubon's CBC, claims coastal birding in particular is at its best in the winter.
