Abstract
Profile of Sherry Huber, recipient of the 2002 Down East Environmental Award. Huber, who is executive director of the Maine Tree Foundation (MTF), served as a legislator in the Maine House in the 1970s, where she wrote and won passage for innovative energy conservation programs. MTF introduces 250 teachers each year in four-day training sessions to Maine's North Woods and its many uses, trains almost 300 teachers a year in a unique forest-based K-12 curriculum for Maine students, and has had a major impact on the safety of the state's loggers through its sponsorship of Maine's Certified Logging Professional program.
