Abstract
Profile of Joel Babb, an artist and precision realist who finds himself turning more toward Maine after years of painting beguiling Boston landscapes. Babb earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from Boston's School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1974. From 1974 until 1986, he taught painting and drawing through the museum's education department, and since 1986, he has taught a painting course at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, driving each Friday from East Sumner, Maine, to Boston. In November and December of this year, the Bates College Museum of Art will feature Babb's Maine landscapes in what will be his first solo exhibition in Maine since 1984.
