Abstract
Article on Bucks Harbor, a village immortalized in the children's books of Robert McCloskey. It is the postcard-perfect place that McCloskey depicted in "One Morning in Maine" and "Time of Wonder," award-winning books known as much for their messages as their illustrations. Bucks Harbor, which is actually a village in the town of Brooksville, is a real place on East Penobscot Bay near the end of the road on the Blue Hill peninsula. And the people in McCloskey's books are real, too. Robert McCloskey, 87, who lives in Blue Hill, wrote and illustrated eight children's picture books.
