Abstract
"The Talk of Maine" piece on a flurry of new newspapers sweeping the Maine coast. As Maine's dailies and chain-owned weeklies continue to reduce news coverage in small communities that are experiencing growth, the opportunities for starting new papers have expanded. New papers include the "Forecaster's" new southern suburban edition, covering Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth and South Portland; the "Current," covering Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth; the "Mount Desert Islander," and the "York Independent."
