    Abstract

Brief article on a top secret and classified listening post that once stood at the Winter Harbor Naval Base for eavesdropping across the Atlantic. The structure was developed in 1957 to determine the orbit of Sputnik I, and later became part of the U.S. Navy's oceanic surveillance system working with intelligence satellites. The installation has been decommissioned and dismantled and the site is now part of a learning center for Acadia National Park.
