Abstract
Article on Maine's "Flying Santa," a role played for many years by the late maritime author Edward Rowe Snow. The tradition of delivering holiday packages by air to lighthouses and Coast Guard stations of the Northeast continues today by a group called "The Friends of Flying Santa." The tradition was begun in 1929 by Captain William Wincapaw, a native of Friendship and a pioneer in the early days of aviation.
