Abstract

"Cover Story" piece on the ski community at Sugarloaf. The hundreds of Mainers who own or regularly rent condominiums at Sugarloaf/USA boast of the neighborly, unpretentious environment and the vibrant social scene. With a year-round population of 400, Carrabassett Valley's roughly 300 full-time residences are outnumbered by more than 2,500 vacation homes, half of which are actually on Sugarloaf/USA property.
