Abstract

Profile of Mandy Lantagne, who made up the entire Class of 2002 at North Haven Community School. The whole island turned out for Lantagne's graduation ceremony and the celebratory dance that followed, and islanders all pitched in to help prepare for the festivities. At the traditional dance, everyone takes part in the Grand March, just as their parents and grandparents before them did. Lantagne was captain of the school's basketball team, and anchored its champion ocean-rowing squad. Lantagne was accepted at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass., where she planned to play basketball. The close-knit community faces a tight real estate market with most property being bought up by summer people.
