Abstract
"The Talk of Maine" piece on the West Branch Project, a crusade to keep 329,000 acres of North Woods open to industrial and recreation use, but closed to piecemeal development. The success of the project would connect other similarly protected parts of the forest with Moosehead Lake and Baxter State Park. With a focus on comments by Alan Hutchinson, executive director of the Forest Society of Maine; Karin Tilberg, deputy commissioner of the Maine Department of Conservation; and Jay Espy, longtime president of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust.
