Abstract
Article about Tom Bergh, who gave up the practice law for outdoor adventuring on Casco Bay. Bergh, who grew up in western Massachusetts and Vermont and passed the Colorado bar in 1977, came to Maine in 1986 and founded Maine Island Kayak Company, which designs to offer people the best equipment available, top-notch guiding, and a chance to explore the coast of Maine. The company now has forty boats, five employees in addition to Bergh. The company's 1994 brochure lists about thirty trips all up and down the coast, priced a about $100 a day.
