Abstract

"Along the Waterfront" piece on Castine Boat Company's low-cost, Turkish-built power yachts, which draw crowds at boat shows. Sam Tell, the Maine Maritime Academy professor who is behind the unique boat-selling business based in Castine, said he got the idea for importing Turkish-built boats while on an exchange program with a maritime academy in Turkey. The Nordic 22, a twenty-two foot fiberglass powerboat, sells for only $33,000.
