Abstract

Article about the marten, a small furry animal about the size of a small house cat, with a long slender body, furry tail and pointed face. Dan Harrison, a professor of wildlife at the University of Maine, is heading up a ten year study on the marten, which is expected to be completed in 1998. It is the largest study of the animal every undertaken. According to Harrison, attention is being focused on the marten because its well being is reflective of the health of a broad range of other animals.
