Abstract
"On the Waterfront" piece outlining the history of Portland Yacht Club, which celebrates its 125th anniversary this year, making it the third-oldest continuously operating yacht club in the United States, following the New York Yacht Club and the Southern Yacht Club in New Orleans. The club was founded in Portland in 1869. One of its major events is the annual Monhegan Race, now marking its 60th anniversary.
