Abstract
"Outdoor Maine" piece reporting that experienced outdoors people are reporting having seen more wildlife than any year in memory. Allan and Anna Hunt witnessed a doe giving birth in sight of a farm house in Thorndike. Usually, deer give birth only deep in the woods. Jean Patridge reports having seen a pair of turkey vultures feeding on a woodcock that they had killed themselves in a field near Town Road in Sidney. And another unusual sighting was reported by Arnold Dugmore, of Denmark, who told a friend that a couple of years ago he had seen a mountain lion swim out to an island in Square Pond, north of Sanford, paying just a brief visit before swimming back.
