    Abstract

"Inside Maine" piece on the success of the reintroduction of wild turkeys to York County in the 1970s. Turkeys now range as far north as Skowhegan and Dexter and as far Down East as Holden and Orrington. The bird's population is estimated at over 3,000. The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has increased the number of turkey hunting permits and created a new hunting zone.
