    Abstract

    Short article describes the discovery of fossils, mostly snails, corals, and tiny marine organisms, dating back to the mid- to late Ordovician Period some as much as 475 million years old. These fossils were discovered in the floor stones of the Maine State Capitol building in Augusta by Patrick Norton, a Maine state employee.
