Abstract
"North by East" piece reporting that the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOGFA), the sponsors of Common Ground Fair whose longtime home has been the Windsor Fairgrounds outside Augusta, is narrowing the search for a new and permanent home. The hunt for at least 100 acres with good soils and within fifty miles of Augusta, is reported focusing on several sites, including land in Unity. While the fair remains crowded, the tempest caused three years ago by an effort made to limit or even eliminate political and social-action exhibitors has died down. The directors of the fair listened to the protest the effort evoked and realized that people didn't want to change the philosophy of the fair.
