Abstract

"Along the Waterfront" piece about Arthur Fivelands, now of Lamoine, who started to build a boat designed by the famous naval architect L. Francis Herreshoff that supposedly could be built by an amateur. Fivelands, who started building his 36-foot ketch in 1959, while living in New Jersey, just completed and launched his vessel at the Mt. Desert Boat Yard this past April, after 37 years of effort. He took the 12-ton ketch out single-handed on her first sail in early June.
