Abstract
Detailed article about the auction held August 2-3, 1995, at the Ebenezer Alden House (1797), outside Union village, to auction off an antique collection amassed over a fifty year period by Joe and Hazel Marcus, whose passion for collecting was bankrolled by a successful textile manufacturing business in New York. The auction, conducted by auctioneer James D. Julia of Fairfield, brought a total of $825,000, one of the last great Maine auctions of the century.
