Abstract

Edward Schweizer, 57, a Swiss-born inventor, this year opened a Maine lobster house named the Kennebunkport in Hamburg, Germany. He spent 11 years in Kennebunkport and his restaurant is an homage to the state, with a life-sized wooden lobsterman and a bar that is a full-sized replica of a lobsterboat. The lobster house, built as part of the American-style Madison Hotel, is decorated entirely with Maine products. A scale model of the schooner American Eagle occupies one wall. Schweizer wants to franchise his concept across the Continent. With a list of Maine-made objects in the restaurant and the names of their makers.
