Abstract

Cindy and Ron Valente of North Berwick raise over 1,500 varieties of day lilies at their Valente Gardens farm. Both are natives of Massachusetts who moved 23 years ago as part of the back-to-the-land movement. In 15 odd years, Ron Valente has produced 15,000 or so hybrids, but he has only registered five officially with the Hemerocallis Society.
