Abstract

"Making It In Maine," piece on Bangor natives Bob and Sue Rioux of Kennebunk, who have created an international business, the Sea Parrot, by handcrafting elaborate and beautiful kaleidoscopes that sell for up to $2,500. They were one of only five kaleidoscope makers in the country invited to participate in a National Geographic Society exhibition last year. Four of a family-sized kaleidoscope designed last year by their eight-year-old son, Alex, have already been ordered by collectors at $2,000 each.
