Abstract

Article about a L/A Arts, which has brought top-notch entertainment to the twin cities of Lewiston and Aburn over the past 25 years. The organization sprang into existence after the phrase, "Lewiston, the Cultural Desert of Maine," appeared in the headline of a Portland newspaper. Today, thousands of people benefit from the organization's cultural offerings each year. L/A Arts, which has its offices downtown on Lisbon Street, is headed by Richard Willing, 45, who became executive director in 1996. The organization has an annual$375,000 budget.
