Abstract
Profile of the town of Buxton, which is only 15 minutes from the Maine Mall in South Portland but, yet, has managed to preserve the essence of its agrarian past. Strict zoning ordinances that require two-acre lots in residential zones and five acres in rural zones have protected the town from over development. Six votes have been held over the past twenty years on referenda that would have reduce lot sizes and all have been defeated.
