Abstract

Beginning in 1977, state biologist Philip Bozenhard engineered a remarkable Down East wild turkey comeback for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, representing one of the most successful wildlife restorations in history. The original 41 turkeys have increased to close to 4,000, and the population continues to grow. With details on the habits of turkeys and on turkey hunting in Maine.
