Abstract
"Making It In Maine," piece on Claire and Mark Woodsum, who formed their home-furnishings import company, the Foreside Company, as an excuse to live in Maine. The business is now one of the fastest-growing company in Maine, has showrooms in six major U.S. cities, and 130 employees. Mark Woodsum served 10 years in the U.S. Foreign Service, specializing in Asian countries. He and his wife met at Bowdoin College in Brunswick. Besides importing goods, many made to their own design, they export their products from Maine to more than 50 countries. They expect to have a $100-million business seven years from now.
